We do not have a physical location. We try to give our animals the best foster experience possible, not only for their comfort, but to implement training and make sure they are getting the best care imaginable. Please read about our adoption process on our Adoption Application page. We work on a volunteer basis and rescue work takes time away from our families, friends, and pets. Our strength to continue rescuing animals comes from finding one of our adoptable dogs a forever home where they will be loved, cherished and treated as a member of the family.
The sad truth is that only 1 in 600 pit bulls will find a home. There is a large misconception about the bully breeds, and Fur Kid Rescue seeks to dispel stereotypes by placing our rescued animals in exceptional homes where they can become ambassadors of their breeds. Please see our Buddies page for more information about pit bulls and some of our favorite breed advocates.
While we do not set a yearly limit on how many animals we can save, we establish goals. Once we rescue a dog, we commit to keeping the dog as long as it takes to find a great home. The amount of time an adoptable dog is in our care is typically 3-9 months. Our rescue is successful in great part due to the generosity of those who support our cause. Again, the Buddies page is a great way to see what businesses help and support us. If you are interested in making an impact by helping Fur Kid Rescue, please go to our How You Can Help page. Those tacky paisley sheets gathering dust in your closet since your Aunt Flo gave them to you for Christmas could be a comfy place for a pup to lie! What may be the most inconsequential item to you can make a huge difference in a puppy’s life.
All of our dogs are tail waggers and we make sure that they have a great temperament BEFORE making them available for adoption. Since we work with Pit Bulls, we will not put the breed as a whole in jeopardy by adopting out a dog that has shown aggression towards people.
Of course, since you are on our site, there is a good chance you are interested in adopting a rescued animal! Congratulations and thank you for your interest in helping to save countless lives! Please visit our Current Adoptables to learn all about the dogs we currently have in foster care. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see the dog you are looking for, we get new animals on a regular basis. Keep checking back to see if you find your perfect companion.
